Maryland Snow

One of the first things we noticed during our first Maryland winter was that they tend to go a little crazy with the salt. We had snow last night (just a couple of inches, if that) and, while there is some snow on the side of the road... the white stuff in the road is salt! There is not actually any snow in the road in these photos... and, in the top photo, you can see a huge lump of salt. This was almost 2' high this morning but many people running it over has flattened it.

Seems like you needs 4WD here more to navigate the salt piles than the snow!

Well, we find this interesting and thought you might too. Ben came up with the term Maryland snow in reference to the salted roads (I have to admit that our first winter had me confused for a minute... if the snow had already melted from all the yards, why is it still in the roads? But really, it wasn't... it was salt! I'd just never seen anyone use it in such large quantities before). Have to give Maryland credit though... they do get the roads clear pretty quickly.

May God bless you!
